Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
Stampd Limited ("Stampd", "we") runs the Stampd app and the website stampd.co.nz. We're a New Zealand company and we follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains what we keep, why, and who can see it.
The short version
- We keep only what we need to run your stamp cards: your name, email address, stamps and rewards.
- We never hold credit card or bank details. Businesses that pay for Stampd pay through Stripe, and Stripe holds their card details, not us. Customers never pay anything.
- We never sell your information or share it with advertisers. There are no ads and no tracking in the app.
- Businesses see your name and your stamps at their business only — never your email address or anything else.
- Your information is stored securely, and you can delete your account at any time from inside the app.
What we collect
If you collect stamps (customers):
- Your name and email address, so you can sign in and so a business can recognise you when it hands over a reward.
- Your stamps, rewards and the times you collected them, at each business where you have a card.
- Your settings, such as whether you want reward alerts. If you turn alerts on, your phone's notification address so we can send them.
- If you sign up on our website, you can also choose to give us a phone number.
If you run a business on Stampd:
- Your business name, type, address and suburb (shown to customers in the app), and your name, email address and phone number (not shown to customers).
- Your loyalty settings, such as your reward and how many stamps it takes.
- Your plan and payment status. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we only see things like your plan, whether a payment went through, and the last four digits of the card.
What we don't collect: we don't track your location, read your contacts or photos, or use advertising or analytics trackers. The camera is used only to scan a business's QR code — nothing from the camera is saved or sent to us.
How we use it
- To run your stamp cards and rewards, and to stop stamps being faked.
- To send emails you'd expect: confirming your email, resetting your password, and (for businesses) account and billing notices.
- To send reward alerts, if you've turned them on.
- Now and then, to tell you about new Stampd features or other products from Stampd Limited — only if you've agreed to hear from us. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link, and you can stop them at any time.
- To answer you when you contact us for help.
Who can see your information
- Businesses see the name of each customer who has a card with them, and that customer's stamps and rewards at their business. They never see your email address, your phone number, or your cards at other businesses.
- Stampd can see account details to run the service and help with support requests.
- The companies that run parts of Stampd for us, only as needed to provide the service:
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud) — stores the app's data and handles sign-in.
- Stripe — business payments only.
- Zoho (ZeptoMail and Zoho Mail) — sends our emails and receives emails to support@stampd.co.nz.
- Expo, Apple and Google — deliver reward alerts to your phone, and the app stores you download Stampd from.
These companies may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- We'll share information if the law requires it.
We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
How we keep it safe
- Passwords are handled by Google's sign-in system. We never see or store your password.
- Information is encrypted while it travels between your phone and our servers, and while it's stored.
- Our database rules mean each person can only read their own information, and each business only its own customers' names and stamps.
Where it's stored
Our data is stored on Google's servers in Australia. Some of the companies listed above may handle information in other countries; we only use well-known providers with strong privacy protections.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete my account), we delete your account and your stamp cards. Businesses can delete their account in Settings. We may keep billing records for businesses for as long as New Zealand tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@stampd.co.nz and we'll respond within 20 working days. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and let you know in the app or by email.
